I have been contemplating making a wheel out of fountains or other effects for my show. Every year we try to have one effect that people see in the field that makes them say wow, what do you think that thing is going to do. Last year we had Frankintree. Do any of you have suggestions or pictures of anything you have done with wheels? I have been thinking of a bicycle wheel with effects mounted to it. So far everyone I bought product from has no manufactured wheels in stock..

A lot, most, consumer fountains don't have a lot of thrust anymore. But, ground blooms, and helicopters / flying diamonds etc have thrust but short duration. 1.4pro gerbs probably have a good push. We used to carry consumer wheels. We don't carry them anymore because they didn't sell well and take up precious shelf space. Other retailers may have made the same decision. I've seen a bike wheel used but it is heavy and might take a good push to get it started. Maybe use a stick rocket motor to get it started. You are going to have to do a lot of trial-n-error on this one. Share a video of the finished product. For that matter, I would be interested in seeing your "frankintree".

I have a bunch of poplar trees on my property that we have been weeding out to allow hardwoods to take over. This one is around 40' tall. We dug a hole and stood it up with my tractor loader. All of the effects are mines. We had it wired in a few different step configurations but the all fire was the most popular.

Joe Ratman has some wheels he's made with fountains, I think he used Ground blooms for thrust. Contact him. Used to have sorts of pictures.

Someone needs to manufacture and sell a motorized pyro wheel system, now with dmx capabilities it would make for an interesting automated wheel.

I did a search and found one of his videos with a wheel. He actually gifted me his old Z-machine several years back. It has a nice speed controlled gearbox that could possibly drive a wheel.

I like that thought. I was actually thinking about a large wheel with smaller wheels attached to it or two wheels spinning in opposite directions.
