SkyWars rule??

I reached out to SkyWars about their no firearm policy. They are telling me that even though my husband and I are sworn law enforcement, with carry exemptions, ID and badges, we will not be allowed to conceal carry our firearms into the venue and will be searched. I am wondering if anyone has experience with this. First of all, it is ILLEGAL under the police protection act to deny entry to off duty law enforcement who are exempt from no firearm zones. We are allowed to carry in every state, in hospitals, schools, etc.
If SkyWars is going to continue to promote this policy, we just simply will not attend. My hope is that they are just unaware of the federal law (which impacts every state) and will change their policy. We don't want a hassle coming in depending on how "good" the security is.

Explicitly written into the statute are several areas considered off-limits to those carrying under LEOSA, such as restrictions imposed by private persons or entities on their property and those imposed on state or local government property, installations, buildings and parks.
My hope that you as a sworn law enforcement officer, are just unaware of the limitations of the law (in EVERY US STATE) and will comply with the policy and the law.

Limitations are private property, and last I checked SkyWars was held at a fairgrounds, which is public property. Also, I should mention, that my husband and I carry additional exemptions beyond normal LEO's. We are allowed to carry in government instillations, on planes, casinos, etc. We carry proof of this. Basically, if a ticket is sold to the public at the venue, and we buy as "public" we are exempt.

So, SkyWars is actually held on private property, NOT fairgrounds.

As for any other law, I would reach out to the board for SkyWars as they might just have to post the law to CYA.

Did they switch venues?
I reached out to SkyWars and they are checking with their security company. Either way, we have decided not to attend any events that maintain this policy.

Why is this even an issue? I have been to skywars since before it was skywars. Since before it was pyromania. I don't recall a single no firearm sign nor a single pyro being searched. I know of multiple people with concealed weapons that have been on-site.

By the weekend pyro pass and join us in the field. Dont make an issue of your concealed weapon and don't make it unconcealed unless you have a reason. If you have a reason I will be glad to have you there.

Skywars has changed venues multiple times and has never been at fairgrounds. It started in someone's back yard. Then moved to a private park called springdale Park. Then to Brookdale stables. Then to the place that shall not be named. Finally it moved to a field in the village of insbrook.

When you say you reached out to skywars do you mean you reached out to mopyro? Missouri Pyrotechnics Guild runs skywars.

I reached out to whoever the organizers are at SkyWars, I am assuming it is MoPyro. They said that anyone entering would be searched by their "security team" that they contract with for the event. While we know very well we are within rights due to our federal exemptions, we don't want to make a scene or bring attention. The best weapon is the one no one knows you have. I started by simply inquiring about LEO's and if there was a search, and this is what they told me.
Also, for the past 2 years (which we haven't been able to attend since hearing about the event), when you look up the event address it shows at a fairground.... I'll take your word it isn't, but that's what the map shows on my end! :-)

I know many pyros who carry brought the concealed firearms on site. As a matter of the fact, there where 3 or 4 PyroU members showing off their firearms. Maybe their security team is just inspectiong the general publics person?

I looked up the address in a couple places and it never brought up a fairgrounds. It is literally in an empty field.

Rules for pyros are also different than general public. Join mopyro and come as a member. Activities start Thursday with a meet and greet. Friday demos and blind pyro. Sat raffles during the day and the shows at night. We have our own section set aside.

I will double down on Stunt's recommendation. You don't need to join MoPyro per se (unless you want to) as you become a temporary member for the weekend when you register as a pyro. When you register as a pyro, you have your own entrance, the BEST seating area, access to Friday night events including the Blind Pyro contest and a very large product demo. If you arrive Thursday evening we also do a Meet and Greet. Your concern has never been an issue before on the pyro side and I've attended the last 9 years.

That is cool. I have not attended in over 5 years and would like to again. Never been to their latest facility. How do you contact those in charge of this event to sign up and do you know the dates for 2022 yet.
