What concerns me here is the contrary to science political views expressed. Don't get me wrong as I am from Canada and am not involved in the politics of the USA. The contrary to science politically driven opinions have become to be viewed as fact by portions of the population of all western countries. This is because of a lack of science education makes the population vulnerable to misinformation from politicians and corporations. The reduction in deaths from infectious diseases due to vaccines and fossil fuel caused global warming are well established science. Anyone with an education in science could look at pandemic death records dating back centuries to find the benefit to human health from vaccines and the current science of the covid vaccines. The science on CO2 causing global warming goes all the way back to Eunice Foote's Experiment in 1859 and is established beyond any reasonable doubt. However due to lack of science education politicians and corporations continue to be successful at convincing a portion of the population of misinformation beneficial to them and not the general public or the future of western democratic countries. The Russians are helping with this misinformation through misinformation digitally distributed.
This lack of science information is also why China is becoming a real competitor for global dominance over the USA and other western democratic countries because they do educate their students in science. In 2006 I was in the Grand Sun Hotel Liuyang Hunan China working on fireworks composition tables when 3 female students whose education I was sponsoring came to the hotel and expressed an interest in the chemistry I was working on. Being surprised that 3 15 year old girls would have and understanding of chemistry I asked them if they understood the chemical formulas listed in the composition tables. All 3 of them were able to identify every element in the composition tables with one exception. One girl mistakenly identified carbon as copper to which the other 2 girls said " how could you get that wrong as it is only the 6th element on the periodic table". I have told this story to people in Canada, the USA and the UK and the response is always something to the effect of I can't imagine that happening in my country.
That is why China will continue to rise, because of better education. That is what we have to fix here in the western democratic countries. Well educated people is what we need. That is what we should be demanding from our governments for our future and the future of our children.
Also science is why we have fireworks.
