Last Wednesday My brother was on his death bed, I was talking to him what he wanted done with his ashes. I knew he wanted to be put into a firework shell. We were laughing at him wanting to be put into a bottom shot. No, not the top half, the btm shot. He loved whistles so on 1 of the 6" multi's is going to be whistles to reports, btm shot. and on the other it will be colorful salutes and then the btm shot. We were joking around on Friday afternoon about a girl he hooked up with out in the 4 corner area about 40 years ago. He went to sleep that night and never woke up.

He helped me shoot over 100 shows over the years, He was a dreamer, He always wanted to do more than what the budget allowed to do, but he still dreamed about it. That's probably why we never made much money on it. It was more of a community service like my dad was a state trooper for 28 years.

This was our last show- this was a $3K show, my brother in law loved the boomers(So I made sure we didn't do any until the 2nd half of the finale) The biggest shell was a 12" a the end- 10" half way through the finale.

We did have fun- and when it stops being fun, get out of it.

I'm sorry for your loss Doug, I know that is definitely hard especially right around the holidays

It sounds like you and your brother were very close and shared that pyro passion especially with how many shows you guys shot together

I think that's awesome putting your brothers ashes into a shell.

Question for you, my mother wants pretty much the same done with her ashes. My question is how big of a shell is needed to do that, 10"-12"??

Is it best to shoot the shell with ashes out over say a body of water so ashes dont rain down on people?

I apologize for my ignorance but I am wondering how the best way to go about doing this. I realize this isnt rocket science but...

thanks
Joe

I'm putting (some) of my brothers ashes in the btm shot of a couple of 6" multi's. I have to make a lampare 4" that will have some also. Even being a pyro head like myself, I suggested to his kids save some for themselves, He liked to find turtle eggs- dig them up and move them to a area to protect them from coons, then help them once they hatch(put a vial to put under them next year) and love to cave dwell( put a vail there). There are plenty of things to do rather than just putting them up in a big shell. Put, all options should be put on the table.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'm happy, however, that you were able to spend time with him in his end days. May the shells his ashes go up in be glorious!
