So, I can use Youtube Mp3 Downloader and get most anything I want music wise and save it as an MP3 file. Would like to edit the music. Just wondering what you guys use or would suggest to edit music. Mostly cut parts out or move them around etc. Thanks.

Audacity is the standard for free music editing software. It runs on everything, costs nothing, and can do just about anything you would need to do. Home
If you live in Apple land you can use Garage Band for a slightly more friendly interface.
The big name in the music editing world is Pro Tools and they have a Free version called ProTools First that you could use. Pro Tools - Music Editing Software - Comparison - Avid
Me Personally I used Studio One from Presonus because it's what my musician father uses.

Also FWIW the 99cents that I spend on each song for my show from Amazon, iTunes, or Google Music SO DRAMATICALLY improves the sound quality that IMO it's the way to go. I'm sure nobody will notice that 6 pack of sparklers you had to cut from the show to include music in your budget 🤣

Thanks a bunch. I actually downloaded Audacity over the weekend and fooled around with it for about an hour.

+1 on MrTheHerder's reply. Although I'm on a Mac, I prefer Audacity to GarageBand. And definitely buy the lossless copies of the music you can get through Apple Music Store or Amazon, not the crappy mp3s you get for free from one of the Youtube Downloader apps you can find online. You're going to be spending a good amount of money and a ton of time on your pyromusical, why play versions of your music that have been through multiple lossy conversions to save maybe $10. total, then find out that your audience hears fuzzy music with extra clicking noises?

And of course if you like the music, don't steal it - the artists get little enough as it is. If someone online was offering you a discount on the fireworks for your show because they were stealing them, you probably wouldn't take advantage of that.

Agreed with all above on the "pirating", would never deal with crappy youtube audio files for a show soundtrack especially when you consider the actual money you can save by doing it. The other side of it, I have been using audacity since I started doing shows and it seems to work pretty good.

Like most everyone else. I use Audacity. I also use it to add time code to one channel when needed.

I use an old Sony acid 6 program I’ve had for years on an old now beat up laptop, nothing beats it for price and functionality. I tried audacity it’s pretty limited and hard to learn at first, but hey it’s free I guess.

Audacity, to my knowledge, doesn't generate a time code track. I use Audacity to collapse the L and R channels down to Mono on either the L or R channel and then add a time code track to now vacant channel. The timecode track is added as new audio file.

I've used El-Tee-See to create needed timecode tracks. Now I have a 90min track just saved on my hard drive that I use whenever I need to add timecode.
