I am just wondering who else is starting to question their ability to do this hobby? With gas getting more and more expensive, diesel getting even higher, the cost of living is approaching new and new heights every week.

Is anyone else feeling the pressure to lessen how much pyro you do or has it hit you yet?

Yes, absolutely. I’ve posed a similar question on the fb pyrouniverse group awhile back. I have maybe 2 good shows in me, after that I might make a change within the hobby. I have also invested in DMX flame machines and fuel mine pipes, both add a lot to a show. If I do a personal show this fall it’ll be a fire and all gold effect show, I have a cool interesting idea and it shouldn’t cost a whole hell of a lot.

I have this year's show and next year's shows stocked and planned. I had originally hoped to do 2 shows this year, but given the circumstances I think I am going to save and hope things improve. Like Scotty, I have tried to be more creative with flames and other effects that are more cost effective. I am fairly new to this hobby so this sucks with timing for growing my skill and inventory. I am to the point where I can't afford many ProLine effects anymore, so I am doing a lot more of taking apart and customizing consumer cakes.

Yeah, I am working on buying product for a show in October but yeah, I am having to get creative to say the least... make slices/sweeps out of preexisting single effect cakes. Thankfully, this is something I love to do!

PGI is also taking some of the pyro budget this year... I guess I just need a better paying job! Lol

I just negotiated a 10% raise for myself, but I'm pretty sure this has to go to pay for food and gas rather than more fireworks/firework equipment.

My neighbors and myself got together this week and With the price of gas, food, and everything going way up along with the price of fireworks also going way up we decided to just watch the city display and not do any 1.4 show this year

I was able to do a show last year without buying anything but that cleaned out most of my stocks.

Prices are out of control now. Hopefully that settles down soon as I’d rather not give up. But the way things are, it’s hard to continue.

yea it has hit me as i spent around $50 on 6 small 7 or 9 shot 200 gram cakes at around 4 or 7 each when i remember 2 years ago paying $1.50 or $2 each, even the cost of firewires and talon clips has hit me too. if this goes into next year then i have no choice but to quit.

Although I didn't buy any pyro this year, I have enough to do at least 2 very large neighborhood shows and a few smaller NYE shows. I've considered leaving the consumer end of shows and dedicating my time with 1.3 town shows.
